Did you miss the inaugural Bloomington Tour de Bière? Here’s your chance to take part in a ride in Indianapolis. Join us on a cycling tour of three of the city’s breweries in an event the Indianapolis Star has called one of the “Top 10 biking events of the summer.” The ride will take place on Saturday, July 12th from 10:00am – 04:00pm.

The 19 mile route will start from the the Northside Optimist Park in Broad Ripple, and will travel the Monon and Indianapolis Cultural Trails, as well as some low volume city streets. The route will take you through the historic neighborhoods of Broad Ripple, Chatham Arch, Fountain Square, and Holy Cross.

Featured breweries are, in order:

Lunch will be on your own in historic Fountain Square. Special tappings at each of the breweries may also be announced closer to the day of the ride. During the tour we’ll also visit Indy’s newest bike shop, Veloworks Cycles in Fountain Square, to meet the owner and learn about their product lines and services.  Finally,  we’ll visit the soon to open Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery, to meet the owners and learn about their product line of gin, whiskey and vodka coming in the Fall.

EXTENDED RIDE: If you are coming from Hamilton County for the ride, or would simply like to log a few more cycling miles during the day, an “extended ride” is also offered. These extra legs of the ride will start and end in Carmel at the Carmel Civic Square along the Monon Trail. The extended ride will leave Carmel at 9:00am and should arrive back in Carmel by 5:30pm. The total distance for the route including the extended ride is 32 miles. At the end of the extended ride, riders are encouraged to join us for post ride beers and food at Union Brewing Co. in Carmel.

The Indianapolis Tour de Bière is free for all participants. Riders will be responsible for the cost of their own beers during the day and lunch on your own in the Fountain Square neighborhood. Please bring cash to allow for an easy check out at the locations. Brewery representatives and members of the Indiana On Tap team will be available to answer questions.  There will also be giveaways throughout the tour. The ride is suitable for riders over the age of 21 of all abilities and all types of bikes.

Lunch suggestions:

Registration is not required, but we do request that you let us know you’ll be coming so we can give the breweries an estimate of the number of people to expect.  All riders will be required to sign a standard liability waiver and photo release at the start.
