Factory Becomes Brewery in LaOtto

LaOtto doesn’t really have a lot of old buildings other than homes, David Koepper says. There’s a bank building on South Main Street that was built in 1915 and the building next door, a wire factory, was built before that. 

And so when the wire factory building came up for sale, “I thought somebody really needs to do something with that,” Koepper says.

That something? A brewery owned by Koepper and five others. 

The team worked on the building at 202 S. Main St. for a year, and LaOtto Brewing Co. opened Dec. 12.

“We’re a five-barrel brewery,” Koepper says, adding that LaOtto Brewing has a microbrewery license and makes its own beer.
