Comic Dwight Simmons Celebrates New Album Release at Bier Brewery on Friday, December 14

We at Indiana On Tap recently profiled comedian Dwight Simmons, a unique talent in the world of craft beer (find article here). He and several other comedians have carved out a niche within craft beer in Indiana and across the country, doing comedy inside brewpubs and taprooms, and Dwight is producing a video series on craft brewing and breweries with a comic slant as well, called BrewTube Comedy.

Just in time for the holidays, Dwight has a new comedy album release; sounds like a great reason for a party. “Sip and Pass” is Dwight’s second album and is available for purchase from iTunes. His first album, “Pacifist Aggressive” was #1 on iTunes in 2015, so this is a rising star that we have in our midst. In addition to albums, Dwight has had success on the stage, opening for comics such as Hannibal Buress, Tiffany Haddish, Pete Holmes, and Doug Benson. Now we get the chance to celebrate with Dwight as his new album rises in the ratings.

People who frequent Bier Brewery on 65th Street in Indianapolis may recognize Dwight as that guy with the big smile who pours your beer on occasion. He hasn’t been around much recently since he was busy touring nationally to get material ready for his album, and then spent a good deal of time putting the finishing touches on “Sip and Pass.” Dwight has helped out at Bier and poured for Bier at craft beer festivals for over a year now; you had no idea that one Thrillist’s “Best Undiscovered Stand-Up Comedians in the Country” was helping you pick between the Bubonic Chronic and the PDG.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the album release party is taking place in the Bier taproom (event page). The fun starts at 6:30pm, with games and a trivia contest based on BrewTube Comedy episodes. If attendees show proof that they downloaded the new album, they will receive a door prize, and there will be other prizes as well. There will beer from Bier, of course, and if we all stroke Dwight’s ego well enough, he might even do a short set for everyone – no promises.

Come out and congratulate Dwight on the new success and take this chance to see him before he heads out on the road again. He has previously been invited and has performed at the Limestone, Memphis, Crom, Crossroads and Let’s Fest Comedy festivals, so it is likely that his calendar for 2019 is going to fill up soon. And when you see Dwight, be kind enough to laugh at what he says (he thinks he’s funny).
