Craft Brewing in Indiana Reaches an Historic Milestone

The Broad Ripple Brewpub, Indiana’s first brewpub (a restaurant that brews its own beer), and oldest operating craft brewery reaches the quarter century mark!

The Brewpub celebrates its 25th Anniversary on Saturday, November 14th with music from popular local bands The Upright Willies (3 – 5:30pm) and Gypsy Moonshine (7 – 10pm), kid related activities – face painting etc., 25th Anniversary merchandise giveaways, and lots of one of a kind beers brewed especially for the occasion – two in particular to look out for are the Celebration Ale, an English style Barley Wine, which will be bottled, a first for a Broad Ripple Brewpub beer (and a major collector’s item for craft beer enthusiasts) and Last Day Of Camp, an ale that was created using 25lbs of fermentable grains donated by 25 different Indiana breweries – a truly unique endeavor.

The Brewpub has also chosen to give back to the community on this special day, as $1 from each pint of their four standard house beers will be donated to a different local organization – sales of Lawnmower Pale Ale will contribute to IndyCog, who promote bicycling in Indianapolis, IPA sales will go to Move to ACT, who find homes for rescue animals, Monon Porter sales will go to the Broad Ripple Village Association, who strive to improve the neighborhood they’ve spent the last 25 years enjoying being part of, and sales of ESB will go to the United Christmas Service, who help families in need have a merrier Christmas – a charity they’ve been contributing to for many, many years.

The Broad Ripple Brewpub has always been proud to be at the vanguard of the burgeoning Craft Brewing industry in Indiana and have enjoyed seeing it grow from those heady days when they were the only one around.
