A Taproom in Indy Makes a Big, But Short Move

A Taproom in Indy Makes a Big, But Short Move

by Mark E. Lasbury for Indiana On Tap

A Taproom has introduced Indiana to a lot of great beer in the year and a half that they has been open on the near north side of Indianapolis. From their space on North Delaware which was originally The Koelschip, Eric Foust and Xavier Randall have served literally hundreds of different and rare (for Indiana) beers from more than 16 amazing breweries.

The new A Taproom location is the yellow building. Goose The Market is across the street to the north, and A Taproom’s current location is next to Goose, so this really is a big, but short move. image credit: Google Maps

Xavier has moved on to new challenges, but what he and Eric put in place has become a favorite watering hole in Indy, and has filled a previously unknown niche. There is a lifetime membership club for those looking to get even rare special beers from the guest breweries, monthly beer dinners to highlight the beers and their food, special collaboration beers between A Taproom and the guest breweries, an anniversary festival featuring all the breweries from the previous year, and great BBQ from Rami Lazarus and Rusted Silo BBQ. Heck, they’re even bringing a team to participate in the upcoming Fowling Fest (beer festival and fowling tournament) at The Fowling warehouse in November.

A Taproom takes pride in being a good neighbor and community member by providing morning hours for 3rd shift workers, a commitment to health care workers, and they are a proud member of the Fall Creek Place neighborhood. And now that it is time for A Taproom to grow, they are certainly going to preserve and grow those relationships, even to the point of adding an Airbnb for people to rent. Starting in the first week January, 2023, you’ll be able to find A Taproom about a half block south of their present location. The reasons for the move are several, and are best explained by Eric and Jessica Foust themselves. Here is the letter they put out on social media on Oct. 6:

Eric and Jessica are doing this all themselves, so it is important to get out and support A Taproom in whatever ways you can to help this growth happen, and happen fast and smoothly. For our part, Walter and I intend on drinking a lot of their beer – you know, you do what you can.
