Annual Vine and Table ‘Whisky & Fine Spirits Expo’ Unsurpassed in Every Way

The Vine and Table Whisky Expo is an unparalleled experience of high-end spirits, gourmet food, and industry access. Where else would you be greeted at the door with an ocean of oysters paired with sinfully smokey ten year-old Ardbeg Scotch served by a Scotch specialist from Edinburgh?

Only at the Whisky Expo, which Denis Lynch, Vine and Table’s General Manager, created to showcase the world’s finest spirits poured by the brand and distillery staff. This year’s Annual Whiskey Expo, in its eighth iteration, featured sixty (60) tables of unlimited samples of over 100 top notch and rare brands(http://eatdrinkevolve.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/2016_IndysWhiskyExpoProductsList.pdf). This stellar collection offers an outstanding opportunity to experience a stunning array of exquisitely distilled delights.

Table 8 presented over $1,000 worth of Irish Whisky from Midleton to Redbreast 21 to Jamison 18. Table 19’s eight options, including Talisker 30($600)and Mortlach 25($700), collectively retail for over $2,000.

Local beer options were represented with Two Deep, Books and Brews, 18th Street and Bier Brewery serving samples. Meredith from Books and Brews poured several barrel aged brews highlighted by Augustus Gloop’s Secret Stash. The triple chocolate stout aged in bourbon barrels is a literary nod to the glutinous character from Willy Wonka. This 15% ABV behemoth is a veritable chocolate bomb with a river of silky smooth bourbon running through it.

Cardinal Spirits served as one local spirit purveyors. The Bloomington based company started in February of 2015 and now distills a dozen options. Cardinal proffered 8 of these for Whisky Expo, lead by their tropical and fruity Tiki Rum which recently received a sterling 92 rating by Wine Enthusiast.

Education is another key component of the Whisky Expo. Two master classes bestow attendees a unique and intimate setting to learn about industry topics and enjoy once in a lifetime pours. This year’s topics included Lost Distilleries from around the World by Duncan Taylor’s International Sales Manager Peter Currie and the Art of Cognac by the North American Manager for Distillerie Tessendier & Fils Anais Brisson.

Fantastic food is in abundant supply at Whisky Expo. A glorious gourmet buffet runs throughout the course of the event. Carved meats, artful canapés, ornate appetizers, and delicious desserts abound.

The  Vine and Table Whiskey Expo, held annually in October, shines by delivering an extraordinary evening. Breathtaking libation, sumptuous cuisine, and up close and personal industry interaction are unsurpassed. The Whisky Expo has it all.
