5th Annual Pumpkin, Cider, and Fall Beer Fest Announced for September 30th in Broad Ripple

5th Annual Pumpkin, Cider, and Fall Beer Fest Announced for September 30th in Broad Ripple

Broad Ripple, August 28, 2017: Union Jack Pub of Broad Ripple has announced the return of their very popular pumpkin craft beer festival, to be held this year at Optimist Park (780 E. 66th Street) in Indianapolis on September 30 from 2:00-6:00 pm. As in years past, the event is 21+ only.

More than forty pumpkin and Fall beers will be available for tasting this year, including the Southern Tier Pumking and perhaps a variant of that very popular beer. In addition, there will be many harvest style beers (bring on the wet hopped beers), including the Autumn Maple from The Bruery in California and various types of hard ciders.

The Elysian Brewing (Seattle, WA) Pumpkin Roadshow will make its only Indiana appearance at the Pumpkin Beer Fest. This will be your only chance to try eight different Elysian-brewed pumpkin beers. The individual beers have not yet been announced, but in years past the Roadshow pumpkin beers have included the Dark o’ the Moon pumpkin stout, the Steamy Hollow pumpkin/yam warm-fermented lager, and the Punkuccino coffee pumpkin ale. Elysian will bring extra activities and demonstrations to further delight attendees.

The 5th annual event promises to be even more exciting with its move to Opti-Park. Pumpkin painting and smashing (you don’t have to smash the pumpkin you just painted) will be joined by keg tossing contests and a pumpkin homebrew contest. First prize for the top rated homebrew pumpkin beer will be a $100 gift card from Union Jack. Chelsey Wetzel of Union Jack explains, “Our home brew competition is officially registered with BJCP and two certified judges will be on hand to judge the entries. While they last, tastes of the entered beers will be available to the attendees. Anyone interested in entering the competition can email me at chelsey@unionjack.pub.”

Tickets are only $35 before the day of the event and $40 at the gate. Designated Driver tickets will be available at the gate on the day of the event for $5. Each admission ticket allows the attendee ten 6 oz. pours or twenty 3 oz. pours. Additional beer tickets will be available for $2 each (for 6 oz. pours) or five beer tickets for $9.

The fun doesn’t stop with craft beer and cider. As Union Jack-Broad Ripple co-owner Jay Wetzel said, “Union Jack Pub Broad Ripple’s food truck will be there serving items like: Pulled Pork Nachos, BBQ Jackfruit Sandwiches, Burgers, and more! We will be showing college football games for anyone who does not want to miss those. A big note is that it’s not just pumpkin beer this year so there should be something for everyone!”
